CARPOOL TUNNEL PAINT A PICTURE OF DEVOTION AND LOVE WITH ‘DON’T LET THEM PASS YOU BY’

Sunny SoCal alt rockers, Carpool Tunnel are set to release their sophomore album, Don’t Let Them Pass You By, this Friday, October 20, 2023.

Carpool Tunnel returns this Friday with their second full length album in an era that seems to be deeply entrenched in melodramatic nostalgia. Some of these songs remind me of my own favorite bands from 2015, skewing a bit towards the pop rock anthems that flooded the radio waves during the end of my college career.

While many of these songs on Don’t Let Them Pass You By seem to take inspiration from the radio-friendly indie rock, Carpool Tunnel takes that sound and infuses the essence of an even deeper, rose-colored yearning. Throughout the album, there is a relentlessly romantic story that drifts between the slow, bluesy riffs and the quicker, bouncy (and sometimes psychedelic) synth. The lyrics paint a picture of desperate devotion, of a love that is both fresh and new but also perpetual in a way that has simply always been. These contrasting ideas are juxtaposed within Carpool Tunnel’s unique blend of modern pop rock and smooth nostalgic riffs throughout the album.

Each song is sepia-soaked in romanticism, featuring groove-driven pop rock and that alludes to early 2010’s alt radio, but pays homage to an even deeper nostalgia- one reminiscent of the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. This distinctive sound brings a passionate blend of oldies and contemporary pop rock to perfectly encapsulate the new era of Carpool Tunnel.

Don’t Let Them Pass You By will release October 20, 2024 wherever you stream.

Catch them on their very first national co-headlining tour with Chase Petra.
