Charlotte Sands solidifies her place as one of the best alternative artists with ‘Love and Other Lies’

If you haven’t heard the name Charlotte Sands before today, you’re missing out. Sands exploded into the alt-rock scene last year with hits like “Dress,” “Special,” “Bad Day” and her most recent release “Keep Me Up All Night.” I’ve been a massive fan of hers since I heard “Sweatshirt” for the first time and I’ve loved watching her career explode over the past few months. If she wasn’t already a force to be reckoned with, Sands has solidified her place as one of the best artists in the alt-scene right now with her newest EP release titled Love and Other Lies, out Friday January 21, 2022.

The EP is largely a collection of (amazing) previously released songs such as “Every Guy Ever” and “All My Friends Are Falling In Love,” but she DEFINITELY did not disappoint with the two new songs housed in this EP. To start, “Want You Like That” has been playing on repeat for me since I listened to it the first time. It’s a poppy anthem that I think fans are really going to relate to. The range Sands shows on this song alone is incredible and I think it’s going to quickly become one of her most popular songs.

Sad songs are something that I personally connect to very quickly, but something I’m not used to seeing from Sands (or she just hides sad lyrics with upbeat music, which is it’s own form of perfection), but “Love and Other Lies” is one you’re going to want to actually sit and listen to every lyric on it. The song starts with a voicemail and fades into this ballad that tells a story that I think everybody listening can relate to.

Love and Other Lies is an EP that captures the entire range of emotions from anger, to love, to jealousy and to sadness. Charlotte Sands really tells a story here and it’s safe to say it’ll be my favorite story to listen to for weeks to come. I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait to see what she does with a full length album.

Check out “Love and Other Lies” out Friday January 21, 2022 and if you want to hear her live (you do, I promise), she’s on tour with Yungblud starting on January 26, 2022.
