Ohio trio Idle Minds are set to release their debut EP, Break Apart the Sun, Friday January 21, 2022.

Less than one year after releasing their debut single “Blossom,” Idle Minds’ five-track EP will likely be a hit for fans of Boston Manor, Homesafe, or Youth-era Citizen. The reverb-soaked album works for an ebb and flow that hits just right every time. Even from the first track “Salt,” the band builds an ephemeral and dreamy soundscape only to smash through the tranquility with delightfully hearty riffs before melding the two styles through the choruses.
The previously released single, “Residuals” will be an excellent song to shove strangers around in a pit to and the guitar tone will have your local Boston Manor fans ready to lose their minds. All throughout the album are impressive hooks, guaranteed to get stuck in your head. Middle track “Hollow” is a perfect example of that.
The last two tracks are serving major old-school Citizen vibes but the closer, “Champagne,” is absolutely filled to the brim with ear worms and interesting hooks. This song to me feels the most authentically unique to the band and it is one hell of a good song.
Overall, this EP is an absolute smash hit of a debut, and this piece of work will undoubtedly earn Idle Minds a respectable seat at the scene table.
