Be it the lead single “Breath”, album opener and title track “Time” or any of the other tracks that comprise the first full length album from Hold Close, one thing is apparent: the band has clearly matured.
The talent of the Springfield, Missouri quintet was never in doubt on their previous EPs I Was Never Meant to Stay and I’ll Never Go Back; yet on Time, due for release on January 18th, 2019 via Hopeless Records, they have definitely leveled up.
Over 11 tracks Hold Close draws the listener in with polished melodies and an overall laid-back vibe that permeates Time. This is the perfect record to relax to, or even fall asleep to, not because it’s boring but because of the calming, almost hypnotic quality of the musicianship.
The creative “Absent to ‘Reality” and one of the pre-release singles “Cloud9” are the album highlights, while the record tackles heavy topics such as the loss of a loved one on “Here Again” and “Breath” and the healing that can occur over time which appears on the album’s first and last tracks, creating a clever bookend.
In support of Time, Hold Close will immediately hit the road supporting As It Is in the US with one Canadian date from January 17th until February 22nd.
