Albany, New York’s Young Culture continue their quest to become a household name on their third EP (This Is) Heaven, due for release on January 18th, 2019 via Equal Vision Records.
Following two successful independent EPs, the band took a big step forward in 2018 by signing with the label based in their hometown, but known worldwide, which boasts a very respectable roster of past and present artists. Young Culture’s first release for Equal Vision is made up of five pop gems musically as the hooks of guitarists Troy Burchett and Gabe Pietrafesa combine beautifully with the vocals of Alex Mangan and they rhythm of drummer Nick Cavin. Highlights include “21 Days”, and especially the track that closes the effort, “Drift,” while lyrically exploring the theme of unrequited love.
In an age where mixed bill concerts are cycling back into acceptance, Young Culture has already shared the stage with artists across genres ranging from Belmont to Counterparts and also have a full US tour under their belts. As 2019 beckons, the band is about to hit the road with support from The Happy Alright in the central and western US from mid-January through early February before crossing the border for a quartet of shows in central Canada.
As Young Culture make the tracks on (This Is) Heaven come to life, both on the record itself and in the context of their live show, they are one step closer to shedding the label of “best kept secret”.
