I honestly can’t think of a better way to start 2019 than with one of my all-time favorites. This band is an icon and I’m honored to be able to do this review.
Twenty Years Later…
On January 11, 2019 Taking Back Sunday is set to release their album Twenty via Craft Recordings. The album will consist of 21 songs, including 19 tracks from all seven of their full-length albums and two brand new studio recordings titled “All Ready To Go” and “A Song For Dan.” These new tracks will give us a sneak peek on where Taking Back Sunday is heading in the future.
“This song is a great example of how in tune we have become with one another, our collective musical instincts. It was an idea Mark and Shaun laid the bones down for in New York and then sent them down to Charlotte, where John and I continued to arrange and add our individual contributions. This made for a great demo and a fair amount of time for everyone to sit with it before we all were able to get in the studio together and hash out the different parts and details with one another. It sounds like a lot when I say it like that, but the process itself was a cohesive and relatively quick one. Having the space to live and breathe with the idea before all coming together to shape it and knowing where we can lean on one another as the song progresses is both insightful and exciting to all of us. It’s one of my favorite parts of being in Taking Back Sunday.” – Adam Lazzara on the process of recording “All Ready To Go.”
Twenty is a celebration of Taking Back Sunday’s greatest moments, paying tribute to previous albums and the band’s story. Whether you were a fan from day one, or just getting started, Twenty is a blast from the past.
“It feels strange to say out loud…2019 marks 20 years since I joined Taking Back Sunday and my life changed forever. So, next year we will be traveling the world to celebrate the amazing brotherhood, music and life we have created together over the past 20 years. We hope you can join us for what is sure to be an experience to remember.” – Lazzara
Taking Back Sunday will be doing a year-long 2019 World Tour to celebrate their 20th anniversary. There are some stops on the run consisting of two nights. For those dates, TBS will flip a specially designed coin to determine if they will also play Where You Want To Be or Louder Now, in its entirety, in addition to Tell All Your Friends. For the cities with one night, the band will perform Tell All Your Friends and a selection of fan favorites from over the years.
Twenty is starting the year of music off with a bang. To get in on the 20th anniversary campaign use the hashtag #takingbacksunday20.
