THECITYISOURS BRING A FRESH AND VIBRANT TAKE WITH SOPHOMORE EFFORT ‘COMA’

When disaster strikes it’s often how people respond that can make or break an opportunity. When THECITYISOURS (TCIO) unexpectedly found themselves looking for a new lead vocalist it put the band at a crossroad following their debut album, Low, and were forced to respond and take action. Enter new vocalist Oli Duncanson who helps TCIO usher in a new era with their sophomore album COMA, bringing a high octane and vibrant sound.

The band flawlessly tie together their crushing metalcore riffs with different pop-centric arrangements to create an infectious mix that just leaves listeners wanting to hit the repeat button. Despite the electric sounds, TCIO discuss heavy topics surrounding the passing of loved ones, relationships, personal sovereignty and self-control. COMA is the perfect balance of fun, upbeat sounds with deep, heavy lyrics. From songs like “So Sad” and “Barely Alive,” TCIO brings an element of relatability as each discuss how people grow apart and how mental health can take a toll on a person.

Overall, the metalcore band from the United Kingdom deliver a fun and vibrant masterpiece while leaving listeners with deep and dark lyrics. Check out COMA when it releases on October 22, 2021 via Arising Empire.
