Not to be confused with Eager Seas, the American band that was formerly known as Lakes, the Watford, UK sextet Lakes return with their sophomore full-length album entitled Start Again and due for release on July 30, 2021 via Know Hope Records.

Lakes immediately transport the listener back to somewhere in the mid-to-late 1990s, in the best way possible, as their truly emo sound would easily fit in alongside forerunners Rainer Maria, Cross My Heart or Christie Front Drive.
Bright yet deep guitar arrangements, graceful vocals, an accomplished rhythm section and even well-integrated glockenspiel parts are showcased on Start Again. Tracks such as “Matches,” “Mirrors” and “Talk!” stand out, while lyrically and thematically Start Again is a record about doing just that.
Recorded over a nine-month period in the midst of lockdowns and other challenges of recent months, Lakes position themselves well for breakout success with Start Again. Produced and mixed with the expert guidance of Neil Strauch (Owen, Joan of Arc), the record is a sign that the band are on their way from being a diamond in the rough to being a household name. There is no mistaking that Lakes are well worth diving into.
