KITTYHAWK SET TO RELEASE A COMPILATION OF RARITIES FULL OF CREATIVE INDIE POP AND POWERFUL VOCALS

Kittyhawk are set to release Mikey’s Favorite Songs on February 26th, 2021 via Count Your Lucky Stars Records. A remastered compilation tape of rarities, the effort showcases 13 tracks that did not appear on 2014’s Hello, Again and were written from 2012 to 2016.  Featuring the vocal talents of Kate Grube, formerly of Walrus and The Bright Young Things, Grube now lends her powerful voice to Kittyhawk.

Mikey’s Favorite Songs opens with “The First One,” a springy upbeat shimmery indie pop track.  Standout track “He Travels in a Suit” showcases the instrumentals of the band as a whole, while lyrically expressing a darker side: “You kiss like my mother with a bottle in your hand / I’m not going home with you / you like me because I don’t dress like other girls / and I’m barely repulsed by that shade of green.”

The album features some heavy emotive tracks and surprisingly a Christmas cover of “Silver Bells” that certainly caught me off guard. Saving the best for last, the album closes with the poignant “You Keep Me Hanging On,” about hoping to be set free.

Mikey’s Favorite Songs comes out digitally and on cassette on February 26, 2021 and you can pre-order the album via Count Your Lucky Stars.

Kittyhawk has their 2012 to 2014 albums on Bandcamp and would be a great addition to your collection for purchases on Bandcamp Fridays.
