WITH A HAT TRICK OF RELEASES IN 2020, THE NEW EP FROM THE WILDFIRES PROJEKT HAS GUTS, SHOWS RESILIENCY AND PUTS A SPOTLIGHT ON STRUGGLES WITH MENTAL HEALTH

If you’re still jamming to your favorite emo/post-hardcore songs from the early 2000s like myself, I have an EP for you! The Wildfires Projekt (solo project of Johnny Zirkel) is set to release their third EP of 2020, Through Fear and Fighting, on October 30th.

Following the release of From Which We Came back in April, Through Fear and Fighting will feature five eye-opening tracks that provide insight on the struggles people who are suffering from mental health may go through. From start to finish, the lyrics are painfully honest and help open your mind to Zirkel’s past suffering.

If you’re in the mood for something a little more upbeat, melodic and organic then “Wasting Time” and “Here’s the Happy Song You’ve Wanted” will be your go-to. Overall, I’m deeply moved by how Zirkel is able to open up and pour his personal experiences into songs to provide a little more understanding around how much mental health truly does affect your well-being.

I believe with how the world is today we need to be more involved than ever with mental health awareness. Even though you may not personally experience this kind of adversity, you may know someone who does. If you know me personally, you know I’ve been a strong advocate for mental health awareness for many years and I believe it’s finally starting to get the support it needs.

You can check out TWP’s Website to learn more on how Johnny has personally been involved with Mental Health Awareness outside of TWP for years and other projects. Post-Pandemic, you can catch The Wildfires Projekt on tour with The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.
