Hoodie Allen helps close out summer with feel-good vibes on new album

Hoodie Allen released his fifth album entitled Whatever USA on August 16 featuring nine tracks filled with guest features and feel-good vibes.

The album starts off with the title track and sets the tone for the rest of the effort. It’s super catchy and I find myself going back to the song constantly. “Come Around,” like the previous track, warrants your attention with a steady beat and well-balanced vocals.

“60 Seconds” fits the overall vibe of the album and the chorus is one that will get stuck in your head, without a doubt. “You Should Let Me Know” is my favorite track with its smooth acoustic guitar and overall nice, easy-to-follow flow and is a subtle break from the more upbeat tracks.

The album carries on with an uplifting track, “Hometown Kid.” I can see this one being a crowd favorite with its feel-good vibes and relatable lyrics. “Giving Up On Us” and “IDK Why” may not have stood out immediately at first listen but inevitably they fit in with the album and are quite enjoyable.

As we near the end of the album, “Hell of a Time” was the first introduction to this new era of Hoodie Allen and set the standard perfectly. It’s super catchy and has a nice, steady flow to it. The final song, “Never Going Back,” is unique lyrically and musically, and I couldn’t have pictured the album concluding any differently.

Summer is coming to an end, whether we like it or not, and this album is a great way to phase it out. With all the upbeat, feel-good tracks Whatever USA could easily make it on any of my summer playlists. The album is out everywhere now, so give it a listen, even if you think it might not be for you. Who knows – it may just surprise you.
