Album review: Chase Atlantic – ‘Phases’

I have been a fan of Chase Atlantic since they toured with Sleeping With Sirens two years ago. Since discovering them it seems they’re constantly doing something new, whether it be touring or creating music. It feels so recent, Chase Atlantic releasing their EP Don’t Try This (January 25, 2019) and now they’re back with probably my favorite album I’ve heard this year, Phases, set to drop June 28, 2019 via MDDN/BMG.

Phases is an incredible work of art, transcending anything Chase Atlantic has done before. I have listened to nothing but this album for weeks and each time I listen it just gets better. It’s very obvious the group took influences from bands like The 1975 and The Neighbourhood but the sound on this album is completely and unapologetically true to who Chase Atlantic is as a band.

Each song is a full experience. The instrumentation and vocals come together to create something truly incredible and I look forward to how these songs translate live. The entire album is a step forward for the band, taking their signature sound and escalating it to a whole new level.

My favorite tracks on the album are “Heaven and Back,” “Even Though I’m Depressed,” and “Angels.” Narrowing that list down to three was incredibly difficult because I love every song on Phases for different reasons. To me, these three are the most musically interesting.

Chase Atlantic continues to take their music to greater heights with every song, EP and album released. With music this dynamic and evolving early in their career, I can’t wait to see what this band looks and sounds like in the future. I have a feeling Phases is just the beginning of a brand new era for Chase Atlantic and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

If you know what’s good for you, listen to Phases as soon as it comes out, but listen with no distractions. Trust me, it’s better that way. Catch Chase Atlantic on their “Phases” tour, happening now! They may introduce you to some new music before it’s officially out.
