Overgrow – ‘The Name We Share’

Overgrow, the Columbus, Ohio based project of former Everyone Leaves member Jake Ciccotelli is back with a second EP entitled The Name We Share, due for release on May 3, 2019 via Common Ground Records.

Building on Overgrow’s debut EP, 2018’s The House You Made, The Name We Share confronts the reality and the pain of death, especially the death of a loved one. “Everything is emptier without you, the growing void is coming to consume…” Ciccotelli laments on “To You & Sober Truths.” Yet, the six tracks of the effort are a journey of healing and a proclamation that while death is painful and not something to deny, healing too is real.  As such, The Name We Share highlights the curative role that his music plays in Ciccotelli’s restoration to a place of peace.

Musically the EP is absolutely beautiful as each track features Ciccotelli’s talent for complex, yet relatable instrumentation and expertly weaves numerous instruments together to create a graceful whole.  Having already shared the stage with the likes of the up-and-coming Forest Green and Can’t Swim, Overgrow is set for an EP release celebration at Donato’s Basement in Columbus alongside Bogues on May 3 before being part of a stacked final edition of Bled Fest in Howell, Michigan on May 25.
