Ottawa, Canada’s Castlefield are sort of like the can’t-miss prospect in professional sports. Despite their young age, the band has been honing their craft for a number of years and began attracting attention with their 2017 EP The Mascot. Castlefield has taken things to the next level on their latest EP Tunnel Vision, due for release on November 16th, 2018 via Penultimate Records.
While “Broken High School Mascot”, the lead single from The Mascot, has recently surpassed 30,000 plays in the space of eighteen months, “Best Laid Plans”, the lead single from Tunnel Vision, is bordering on 21,000 plays in just two short weeks since its release on November 2nd, illustrating the fact that the juggernaut known as Castlefield is clearly progressing towards the big leagues.
Themes of angst and regret wrapped in quality musicianship are in abundance throughout Tunnel Vision, making the four tracks that comprise the EP cathartic for listeners and the band alike. Believe the hype. With the release of Tunnel Vision, training camp has clearly concluded and the game has begun. And like the can’t-miss prospect, Castlefield has surpassed all expectations.
