After exploding onto the scene in 2016 and releasing their first full-length for Pure Noise Records in March 2017, Can’t Swim are back 18 short months later with their sophomore LP for the label, This Too Won’t Pass, due for release on November 16th, 2018.
Despite the short time between releases, the effort in no way feels rushed. Frontman Chris LoPorto’s trademark raspy vocals are back in full force on This Too Won’t Pass, accompanied by high energy guitars sharing poppy hooks on the likes of “Hell In A Handbasket” and the anthemic album closer “Winter of Cicada” and the somewhat unexpected, but very welcome mix of clean and unclean vocals on “What Have We Done”.
The band finds the right balance between upbeat tempos, and the occasional slow jam, while a palpable sense of urgency is present across all of the 10 tracks that comprise This Too Won’t Pass. Taking their place as one of Pure Noise’s very wise recent signings, Can’t Swim has just hit the road in support of labelmates Seaway as well as Trophy Eyes along with Microwave and Hot Mulligan on The American Vacation Tour which runs through December 18th.
