Ottawa, Canada’s Bearings continue to grow on their full-length debut Blue in the Dark, due for release on October 12th, 2018 via Pure Noise Records.
Following on the success of 2017’s EP for the label, Nothing Here Is Permanent and 2 self-released EPs, Blue in the Dark is a beautiful illustration of what happens when a band embarks on the relentless pursuit of honing their craft. The band has worked hard from the moment they began, enduring the challenges of becoming established that are now seeing them flourish.
Bearings’ appeal and the reason they continue to progress is found in honest, yet relatable lyrics that are unafraid to venture into painful places and upbeat, captivating melodies that stay with the listener long after the record has ended. Album highlights include the title track and “Goodbye (To All of Our Friends)”, although this is a record where no track ought to be skipped.
After spending years becoming staples of their local scene through countless house shows and short regional tours, Bearings are seeing their following grow across North America, currently as part of a tour with fellow Canadians Like Pacific and Story Untold, the UK’s ROAM and Australia’s Between You and Me.
In an industry that is increasingly defined by “one step forward and two steps back”, Bearings have taken a positive jump forth with Blue In The Dark.
