Hungover set to re-release ‘WILT’, exclusive interview

H1

Orlando rock act Hungover is set to re-release their successful 2016 EP, WILT, on March 30, 2018 via Smartpunk Records. The re-release will house three new tracks: “Three’s Company”, Sleep Alone”, and “Exit — Stage Left”. You can preorder WILT here.

We had the opportunity to talk to the band ahead of the re-release of WILT to check in on the excitement and much more:

ST: Hungover recently signed with Smartpunk Records. What has it been like collaborating with them so far?
H: It’s been a dream. There is a great team of people there that are always doing what they can to help get our band to the next level. They care about us equally on a personal and professional level. We couldn’t ask for a better relationship with them!

ST: An exciting re-release of 2016’s WILT is set to drop on March 30, 2018. The EP will contain three brand new tracks — What inspired this idea?
H: We put out the initial release when we were really just getting started. The songs have connected with people, but didn’t get the reach that ourselves or Smartpunk thought they could. Packaging the older songs in a rerelease with the three new songs gives us a chance to introduce ourselves to new listeners while giving the people that have stuck with us new material.

ST: The new tracks featured are “Three’s Company”, “Sleep Alone”, and “Exit – Stage Left”. Were these songs written around the same time as the original release of WILT or are they more recent?
H: They were written in the wake of the original recording process. We didn’t know it at the time, but while writing them, we were already working towards a rerelease. The songs really punctuate the statement and sound we had on the initial release, while also expanding upon it.

ST: Did the band revisit any of the original tracks off WILT, whether in-studio or mixing, for the re-release?
H: We had the entire EP mastered and remastered by Alan Douches (A Day to Remember, Mayday Parade, As It Is).

ST: What is the band most proud of with this upcoming release?
H: As a group, we’re definitely the most proud of the songs (new and old). It’s some of the best material we’ve written as individuals and we are so excited for people to finally hear the record from start to finish.

ST: Hungover has been on tour since mid-February and is continuing through March 31 with a great rotation of bands. How has the run been so far?
H: There have been a lot of ups and downs. The band has gone through a lot emotionally. Being away from home for this long definitely takes a toll on you, but it has made us closer and a better support system for each other. The shows and people we have met so far have also been a huge motivator. Knowing that someone came to a show to see us or we’ve won somebody over with our set makes our hearts so big. Our main goal is to get our music out to people and connect with them. We’ve been doing a lot of that this tour and we couldn’t be happier about it.

ST: What other plans does the band have as we head into the spring/summer concert surge?
H: We’ve just teamed up with Artery Global, so you can expect to see a lot of touring from us this year. Nothing we can announce just yet, but be assured that some things are in the works!

ST: What is the best way for fans to support Hungover?
H: Coming out to a show, sharing the music with a friend, and buying the record. Those things go miles further than anyone could imagine.
